There are various different purposes for every person within the agency. In order to be the most effective, we have found that being focused, concentrated and dedicated to a small number of tasks gives us the most impact on the jobs that you are doing.

Staff

The main focus of the United Way of Aiken County’s staff is to direct community impact initiatives in order to raise funds for partner agencies and critical need programs.  The agency serves as a parent organization that provides direct support for over 32 local organizations that serve Aiken County.

Duties:

  • Plan and implement annual campaign to raise financial support
  • Retain a motivated volunteer workforce
  • Encourage media participation at events
  • Function as a team to meet the highest of accountability standards

Board of Directors

The United Way of Aiken County’s Board of Directors is made up of 36 persons elected by the membership, all of whom shall be volunteers and at least eighteen years of age and none of twhom shall be paid personall of this corporation nor of any organization receiving financial support from this corporation.

Duties:

  • Ensure that organization outcomes are achieved by raising resources, supporting excisting community programs focused on priiorities and outcomes, and devloping innovative approaches to achieve maximim community impact
  • Provide fiscal accountability to maintain the trust of the community
  • Champion the work of the United Way in the community

Loaned Professionals

A Loaned Professional is an individual carefully selected by his or her organization who his assigned to work in the United Way campaign for a specified period of time.  During this time, he or she is relieved of regular job responsibilities.

Duties:

  • Develops contacts with key community leadership
  • Develops leadership skills and gains community expsure not otherwise available in his/her day-to-day job
  • Learns to work effectively with people of varying social, economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Learns to adapt to different personalities and situations under pressure
  • Develops organizational and planning skills – including knowledge of the importance of timing and deadlines
  • Feels more a part of the community and can take pride in knowking his/her work is helping to improve the community
